This print is dedicated to all communities that organize and fight to keep their public libraries open. As we all know, the public library is the heart and soul of the community and a resource that is treasured by people of all ages. Paul Kjelland and I installed this image as a mural at the Villard Square Library in North Milwaukee in 2011 to celebrate the 2003 movement when community members organized and saved their neighborhood library branch from being shut down. This victory led to a brand new facility being dedicated in 2011, one that stands as a proud reminder that community organizing and action is needed to keep our public libraries and public institutions strong and vibrant.

“We stand in solidarity with our Palestinian siblings in Gaza and those among our community who are directly and indirectly affected by the current war and genocide by the Israeli settler-colonial regime. Passive observation of the horrors of bombings, genocide, and prolonged apartheid is not our way. We must rise and firmly proclaim that Palestinian Liberation is a Feminist Imperative.” – Feminists for Jina Seattle
