On February 4th we hosted a forum on AI and its discontents with our friends at Haymarket Books, Counterpunch, and Pilsen Community Books. It was a fascinating and engaging panel presentation from Ray Acheson, M.V. Ramana, Joshua Frank and myself, covering a range of topics from the incorporation of AI into surveillance technologies and assassination databases, to the energy hubris required to imagine a world paved with data centers, to the origins of AI in the protoscience of alchemy and the world-destroying Manhattan Project. It’s worth a watch!
