Galerie Kenilworth is pleased to announce its fourth exhibition, Domestic Animals, featuring new paintings by Milwaukee artists Colin Matthes (of Justseeds) and Makeal Flammini. Having lived and created as nomads for nearly a decade, the addition of two children and an east-side Victorian has turned their freedom into domesticity. This, their first exhibition together, creates a moment of reflection, as they create new work in response to their new, fully domestic, and sometimes isolated lives.

Both artists draw heavily from lived experience, and the new feats and challenges that come with parenthood provide ample material to draw from. With an affinity for line and narrative, each responds to parenting, marriage, and the anxieties surrounding societal and financial concerns in different ways. This exhibition highlights the divergent directions their work takes, while being informed by similar experiences.
