Refugees Welcome

Here’s a new graphic on a perennial theme: Refugees Welcome! I made this as a cut-paper warmup to a day of printing, because I wanted to get back into papercutting and I wanted to make a quick and simple graphic for our new downloadable graphics section. This is a little thing to try to evoke the refugee experience through a depiction of the things people carry when they are on the move, things that are necessary, things that are useful and used. Also included is a little Arctic Tern – the small, graceful seabird that performs the longest migration in the animal kingdom.

Large cut-paper words in orange state: “Refugees Welcome.” Below, a bundle of various possessions: A sleeping bag rolled up, a teddy bear, a few bags, backpack, slippers, boots, and an oar. A bird perches on the sleeping roll.
