Living under a fascist regime has led me to ask what is safety, how do we create sanctuary for each other, how do we protect ourselves, our families and our communities whose autonomy and rights are being stripped away and face state repression and violence? This print is an evolution of one I created years ago which stated "this is a safer space". While it's difficult to make the claim that anywhere is safe,"create sanctuary" embraces the idea that safety is a collective process rather than an actual place.
