El Corazon (de Pan Dulce) is my first take on the popular Loteria iconography. There are 54 uniquely designed cards in game Loteria. The Mexican game of chance holds a a special place in many my heart because I remember raucous games with 54 being played among family members both in Mexico and the U.S.
I created this piece to support the former owner of Casa Latina-Jose Ruiz's crowdsourced fundraiser, "De Corazon a Corazon", to be given to donors as a special thank you. I tied the theme of the fundraiser "corazon" to pan dulce because of the bakery at Casa Latina. I have printed an alternative edition of these prints using a new palette to make the work available for more folks.
