This 100% cotton tote is hand-printed by me from two linoleum blocks that I made into silkscreen prints. The original blocks are pattern-matched, and they were made as part of an ongoing project about mineral exploitation, nuclearity, and our relationship to the commodities that assemble our world. I made this tote after attendees at a workshop in Hiroshima, Japan, rushed out to buy some blank totes in the middle of the event, realizing that the design also worked as a single image. I added the text "You Are Here" as a nod to other works in the exhibit, which describes our position within the long nuclear future just come to light.

The blocks were made into screens by printing them in oil-based ink on tracing paper, which was then used as a film positive to burn the screen. No computers involved!

There is some variation in registration and ink density between individual bags. Design is heat-set. Printed by me at Flight 64 Studio in Portland OR.
