This week’s covers are from Dover Math books I’ve found over the past six months at Book Thug Nation bookstore. You can see the last two posts about Dover books HERE. Many have strong geometrical patterns on the covers, extremely eye catching, but I don’t have much else to say about them, so I’ll stay out of the way this week, and let the cover’s speak for themselves…
I think Dickson’s Introduction to the Theory of Numbers is my favorite of this lot. It’s got the collage elements, the under-used black and yellow duotones, and the great quilt of threes…
I guess Lewis Carroll, author of Through the Looking Glass/Adventures of Alice in Wonderland wrote a number of math-related books, which were republished in the 50s and 60s by Dover.
An Investigation of the Laws of Thought seems to be the runt of the litter, with little going on design wise. Not much going on with the Textbook of Algebra, either, but the overprint is nice.
