A Time of Expectant Hopes is a collaboration between Pete Railand (of Justseeds) and Jenna Valoe, including works inspired by 19th century union banners, suffragist banners, and modern day activist banners.

Railand identifies as a printmaker, educator, bike rider, self-taught musician and stay at home dad. He earned his B.S. and M.Ed. from Portland State University and an M.F.A. from the University of New Mexico. Railand is a founding member of the Justseeds Artist Cooperative.

Jenna Valoe is a self-taught textile artist with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropolgy from UW-Milwaukee. She is a daydreamer who attributes her innate fiber skills to the abundance of makers in her ancestry. Considering place-making, symbolism, and magic in daily life, she employs large color planes in unique combinations to capture the calm of skylines and the sacred geometry of nature.

Railand and Valoe will give an artist talk in the lobby of Rodman Center for the Arts at 7:00 on March 29, as part of an opening for the exhibit.
