Our sixteenth pack of free fonts designed by the artists and cooperative members of Justseeds. This installment includes two fonts, Fraktion designed by Roger Peet and Ransone engineered by Alec Dunn.
Roger: “This font came from trying to increase the boundary length of letterforms, to make something bricklike, puzzle-like, something that might or might not fit together.”
Alec: “Ransone is a tall, thin, and urbanistic font that I spotted drawn on an envelope in a friend’s house. I snapped a picture, went home, and worked it up into a full upper/lower case font. When I asked permission from the draw-ers of these letters I found out it was adapted from a Ramones flyer from Seattle from many years ago. The letters reminded me of Pittsburgh, and on the original flyer the various Ramones were collaged in and hanging out and interacting with the letters like they were buildings. It seemed a nice accompaniment to the vaguely paganistic and architectural vibes of Roger’s Fraktion, so I decided to keep it. It was dubbed Ransone after the multi-talented Ransone family of Richmond VA who brought these letterforms to my attention.”
All fonts are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-SA). This Creative Commons license means that these fonts can be used, shared, and adapted; attributed when appropriate; and any adaptations must fall under the same license. This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms.
These fonts can be used for activist projects of all sorts. These fonts can also be used for liberatory social and cultural productions. These fonts are not for sale and must be shared freely.
