Our seventeeth pack of free fonts designed by the artists and cooperative members of Justseeds. This installment includes two stencil fonts, Attraverso engineered by Josh MacPhee and Tompkins Square Riot drawn by Kevin Caplicki.
Kevin: “Tompkins Square is inspired by the historical political communities of the Lower East Side of NYC, specifically the artists that contribute to World War 3 Illustrated– a graphic publication that began in 1979. It is a stencil lettering that I have utilized since the early 2000’s to produce stickers and posters on issues of anti-war, militarism and in support of the BDS movement to liberate Palestinian society.”
Josh: “Attraverso (“through” in Italian) has its origins in 9 characters from the cover of an Italian LP covering songs penned by revolutionary Cuban poet Nicolás Guillén (Cuba Attraverso Guillen from 1973). The words “CUBA” and “GUILLEN” are set in this clunky block stencil font centered within a very charming, amateurish design that somehow simultaneously references Constructivism, liquor adverts, and modernist travel posters.”
All fonts are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-SA). This Creative Commons license means that these fonts can be used, shared, and adapted; attributed when appropriate; and any adaptations must fall under the same license. This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms.
These fonts can be used for activist projects of all sorts. These fonts can also be used for liberatory social and cultural productions. These fonts are not for sale and must be shared freely.
