A Queer Youth Liberation Manifesto

This poster manifested out of my research into the history of LGBTQ+ youth groups for the third issue of my zine Youth Liberation Now. As I researched, I found a pattern. Every single group that I discovered seemed to have either a manifesto or a platform. With this realization, I compiled a mega manifesto with some of the most interesting demands and statements. The manifesto serves as both a reflection of the past and a way of imagining the present and future. Which of these demands have we achieved? Which are we still fighting for 40, 50, or 60 years later?

The vibrant purple color is inspired by the purple paper that STAR’s (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) manifesto is typewritten on. All text is taken from original historical documents, as are the symbols that border the poster.

“We stand in solidarity with our Palestinian siblings in Gaza and those among our community who are directly and indirectly affected by the current war and genocide by the Israeli settler-colonial regime. Passive observation of the horrors of bombings, genocide, and prolonged apartheid is not our way. We must rise and firmly proclaim that Palestinian Liberation is a Feminist Imperative.” – Feminists for Jina Seattle
