Art is a human right. Art is a practice that teaches us how to be critical thinkers, art teaches us how to have a voice, and teaches us to imagine the kind of world we wish to live in.
This print encourages children to be artists. When I was growing up, few adults in my life encouraged me to be an artist. Instead, they wanted me to be a doctor, or an engineer, or a lawyer. Although I was creative from a young age, I was rarely told that I could be an artist for my life path and career. Art was seen as a hobby, but not as a way of life. This is why, I have a lifetime commitment to inspire children, youth and adults to be artists - to create and write that book they have always wanted to write, to sing that song, or to create that masterpiece.
In creation, we transform ourselves and the world around us.
