This print is a 3-way collaboration: slogan and ongoing organizing to shut Rikers Island Jail Complex by the Katal Center, concept by me (and some minor printing assistance), backgrounds and printing by Keegan Cooke at The Arm in Brooklyn. These were printed with large-format woodtype on a giant letterpress.

This type design was set to print placards for protests (which we did, see photo below), but these dark color rolled background called out for a more poetic treatment of the slogan, with Rikers sinking into the grey darkness.

Only a dozen were printed, and proceeds of this edition will fold directly back into cultural work to close Rikers Island.
