This is the eighth image in the “Extincion” series. A collection of prints attempting to take on the subjects of climate change, the destruction of ecosystems, plants, animals, and our contribution as a species to this devastation.
On this Linoleum blockprint the Lacandonian Jaguar (Panthera onca) is depicted. The jaguar is the largest feline in the Western Hemisphere and has been regarded as a sacred creature by many of the indigenous nations of Turtle Island. Jaguars along with many of the large predators continue to be the victims of poaching and campaigns to wipe them out because their very existence gets in the way of profit. This wonderful creature is threatened and in vulnerable status.

En este grabado aparece el Jaguar de la Selva Lacandona (Panthera onca). El jaguar es el felino mas grande del Hemisferio Occidental y se considera una criatura sagrada por muchas de las naciones indígenas del continente Americano. Los jaguares junto con muchos de los depredadores de gran tamaño continúan siendo victimas de la caza por sus pieles y de campañas para erradicarles solamente por que se interponen en el camino de la acumulación de bienes y el capitalismo. Esta increible criatura se encuentra amenazada y en estado vulnerable.
