The industrial revolution began in earnest around 1760. Less than three hundred years later the planet is facing a human caused climate crisis. CO2 levels are at 401ppm and rising (the safest high point is 350ppm), droughts are widespread, ocean acidification is rampant, sea levels are rising, and species are going extinct. The 21st Century will be defined by whether or not the global community can adequately change its ways before its too late: move rapidly away from fossil fuels and hyper-consumerism and learn to live in balance with the ecosystem. Quite the test under corporate capitalism.
This print depicts a dinosaur fossil coming out of an industrial landscape. The fossil represents fossil fuels and/or extinction. The aesthetics are subtle (silver ink on white paper). Hopefully the message and the call for action is not.
