El 21 de diciembre de 2012 el calendario maya marcaba un nuevo baktun, una nueva época. El mercantilismo turístico folklorizante marcaba esta fecha como la del fin del mundo. En Chiapas, en 5 ciudades 50 mil zapatistas marcharon para afirmar “¿ESCUCHARON? Es el sonido de su mundo derrumbándose. Es el del nuestro resurgiendo.”, en otro comunicado apuntaron “No es el nuestro un mensaje de resignación. No lo es de guerra, de muerte y destrucción. Nuestro mensaje es de lucha y resistencia.” Este mensaje es el motivo de este diseño.
December 21, 2012 marked a new “baktun” or new era in the Mayan calendar. Comercial tourism called this date the end of the world. In Chiapas, in 5 cities, a march of 50,000 Zapatistas took place to say, “DID YOU HEAR? It is the sound of this world collapsing. It is of our resurgence.” In another communique they said, “Our message is not one of resignation. It is not a message of war, death and destruction. Our message is one of struggle and resistance.” That message is the inspiration behind this design.
