What to say about President “Genocide Joe” Biden’s cynical “red line” around Rafah, declared and then ignored? I am one of those who tries to read the updates about Gaza, but turns away from the images of dead bodies and maimed children. Do not turn away from the truth, but don’t dwell on the pornography of death. To make this image I forced myself to look at images of people holding their family members, their babies, pulling bodies from the rubble. I tried to draw accurately, but with simplicity. How to honor the dead? And then I asked myself, why draw so few? What would it take to fill the paper with images of the 40,000 dead and the many more uncounted?
This print was part of series of five posters produced in the summer of 2024.
