Many parents are struggling to manage maintaining our work and our kids education in the midst of this pandemic. Our kid is in kindergarden, sometimes in person and sometimes at home through remote learning. This is a snapshot of one of those days where I was able to work while my kid was in "school" - by drawing him in that process. This is a literal interpretation of what I witnessed- my child sitting in a small chair cutting a piece of paper. He is sitting in a chair on a rug, next to a desk filled with pencils, a drawing which my child actually drew onto the linoleum block, a bottle of glue, and his computer screen- where we saw his two dozen classmates faces in small squares. On the wall is a drawing of the earth (also drawn by my kid) and there is a pile of laundry glowing and overflowing in the background.
What will the impacts of this time be on our generation and our childrens? How will we collectively write, speak, draw about this time? I have more questions than answers. As he gathers language to communicate about his experience, I will be interested to hear what he and his friends have felt, thought, experienced in these days.
