Manta rays have achieved some important new protections lately- most notably the announcement of the world’s largest sanctuary for these enormous pelagic relatives of sharks, in the waters of Indonesia. These powerful and gentle titans are some of my favorite things to see underwater, and it’s great to hear that they’re going to be further protected from the ravages of the traditional medicine trade.

This is a two-color screenprint from a single hand-cut rubylith film, printed in a split fountain fade on heavy steel-grey Mr. French paper.
