Multitudes move with their own logic. Fish keep an even distance from each other, moving with a seamless coordination in silver wheels, flashing in and out of the descending light from the sun. This print aims to capture the experience of observing one of the great cylinders of silvery fish that I've seen while scuba-diving, as part of an ongoing exploration of the phenomenon of the multitude.

Movements take coordination, knowing how close to get to each other, and how far to stay apart.

This is a two-layer print from a hand-cut rubylith stencil, made entirely by hand at Flight 64 studio in Portland, OR. I printed each layer with a split fountain fade of three different blue inks to create the gradient. The paper is a heavyweight acid-free Midnight Blue cardstock from French Paper.
