In the first week of July 2018, volunteers planted a record 66 million trees during the annual National Festival of Tree Planting, or Van Mahotsav. This tradition was begun in 1950 by then Minister of Agriculture Kanaiyalal Meneklal Munshi, and the goal is for each person in India to plant at least one tree each year as part of a broader campaign to combat global climate change.

This CPH poster printed at the worker-owned and union-run Community Printers, Santa Cruz, CA.

This is #196 in the Celebrate People’s History Poster Series.
