Printmaker Antonio Frasconi passed away earlier this year. Frasconi was a Uruguayan artist that mastered the medium of woodblock printing. He produced artwork on a wide range of social issues through his 93 years of life. I was fortunate enough, many years ago, to view his “The Disappeared” prints at the Desaparecidos exhibition mounted at the Museo Del Barrio. The show was incredibly moving, and Frasconi’s works brought tears to my eyes.
