Free Sudan

The recent coup in Sudan reflects a trend of military usurpations of civilian governments around the world. How can we help, how can we resist? The ease with which military juntas can sweep away hard-won democratic achievements is disheartening in the extreme, but the movements go on regardless.

For some insight into how the Sudan coup fits into the contemporary scene of strongman takeovers, google the Israeli-Canadian lobbyist Ari Ben-Menashe.

A small graphic for solidarity.

Bold, red letters spell out: “FREE SUDAN”, as flames and smoke billow from below. A lone hand is raised with the “V” for victory and peace symbol.
