Burying Beetle


The American Burying Beetle (nicrophorus americanus) is an iconic North American species of arthropod that has facilitated the decomposition of dead animals for many hundreds of thousands of years. With the great decline in all animal populations, the burying beetle is also declining, and when everything is gone, the burying beetle will go too.


This is one of a series of blocks carved while in residence at Casa Tres Patios in Medellin, Colombia. Two blocks printed on a Vandercook 3 Letterpress in Portland, OR on Fluorescent White Cranes Lettra paper.
