This is a print I made for a Justseeds show held at the UWM Union Art Gallery in Milwaukee during March of 2013 as part of the Southern Graphics Conference (an international printmaking conference). The show was titled  "Uprisings: Images of Labor"and addressed labor from multiple angles, not just the traditional lefty union angle. Since the show was in Wisconsin I couldn't help but think about this article written by Nicolas Lampert and Dan S. Wang titled: Wisconsin's Lost Strike Moment. After the incredible uprisings in Wisconsin in 2011...then the energy from that grassroots movement being funneled into reformist politics... and a massive recall effort which ultimately failed in getting rid of Governor Scott Walker... is this the question my kids will be asking their Grandfather who was a unionized public school teacher in WI?
