Red Cloud


As a kid I collected stamps, and I recently came across a small envelope of old ones. Out fell this stamp of Red Cloud, and I picked it up and stared at it for awhile. I couldn’t figure out why I was so drawn to it, but I couldn’t put it down. I had it kicking around my desk for awhile, and then realized its power. This simple little stamp perfectly encapsulates the US relationship to Native peoples: Celebrate and Cancel.
