PM Press commissioned me to make a design for a t-shirt based on this quote from Ursula K. Le Guin, and this image was what I came up with. After I sent the digital version off to them, I carved another block to add some color and depth and printed them both up on the Vandercook 3 letterpress. I love this quote, and I love Ursula's writing, and I have a couple of friends who were long-time housekeepers for her and her husband and report that she was just as sweet and brilliant a person as you'd imagine. She loved the remote sagebrush expanses of eastern Oregon, and I love those too. I hope those places and these see liberation in our lifetimes.
