bell hooks’ essay “Love as the Practice of Freedom” in Outlaw Culture: Resisting Representations, asks us to consider the political manifestations of self-love, and how this love propels us towards self-determination. This has particular resonance as people are moved to take action today, with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, with calls for justice and organized resistance against police and state violence, and support for Black, women, and trans folks defending their lives. As hooks writes:

“The moment we choose to love, we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others. That action is the testimony of love as the practice of freedom.”

This is the 2nd edition of a print made for Justseeds' CSA in 2015.
