Jacinto Canek led an important indigenous rebellion in 1761 against the Spanish colonizers, in his homeland of Yucatán. The rebellion was short lived and the young indigenous leader -he was only 30 years old- was captured and killed by the Spanish that same year. Jacinto Canek dirigió una importante rebelión indígena contra los colonizadores españoles en 1761, en su tierra nativa de Yucatán. La rebelión tuvo corta vida y el jóven líder indígena, de sólo 30 años, fue capturado y asesinado por los españoles ese mismo año.
