Sounds of the Week #17

September 14, 2014

Well hello again friends, Sounds of the Week is back, even if only for a brief moment, (hopefully I’ll find time for this more often). I’ve been stuck on some new music that I felt compelled to share so here goes:

Here’s some things I suggest you spend some time with:
I can’t stop listening to this:

I don’t know much about SubRosa, other than they are from Salt Lake City and are amazing.
Yob have a new album: “Clearing the Path to Ascend”
some of the best sounds from the Pacific Northwest

Earth: Primitive and Deadly
Yes Earth have a new album out and are touring right now. This time Earth return with a more rockin album, closer to their sound on The Bees. Two songs feature vocals by Mark Lanegan. a seemingly wise choice, yet I feel don’t work as well as Lanegan’s solo work, or Earth’s standard instrumentals. The vocals by Rose Windows singer Rabia Shaheen Qazi complement the song nicely, bringing out the best on both sides, creating one of the best tracks on the album. You can listen to the whole thing on their bandcamp page for free:
