Justseeds is actively supporting this online art auction to benefit Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders. Find it HERE on Facebook.
This event is being organized by folks living in many territories including those of the Lekwungen, Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh, Tsawout, Quw’utsun, Penelakut & Hwlitsum, and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Artists Against Pipelines believe we need to show up NOW in solidarity for Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders because they are protecting the land and water for their people and for ALL people.
We believe the traditional Wet’suwet’en title-holders have the right to assert ‘Anuc niwh’it’en (Wet’suwet’en Law) on their sovereign territories. Any removal of Wet’suwet’en people from their territories violates Wet’suwet’en, ‘Canadian’ and International Law.
We condemn TC Energy, the company behind the Coastal GasLink pipeline, the RCMP and the Government of Canada for attempting to bulldoze over this ancient governance system, and putting the health of Wet’suwet’en Lands and People at risk through extraction infrastructure in a time of climate crisis.
Resources are needed for legal expenses as the Wet’suwet’en continue their fight in the courts. All funds from this fundraiser will go directly to Unist’ot’en and Gidimt’en. This fundraiser is being done with the consent of Gidimt’en and Unist’ot’en.
You can donate directly to either of the Wet’suwet’en clan’s legal defense funds here:
