Reading the news about the City of Minneapolis’ plans to disband and replace their police force- it’s time to throw away a bad idea that never did anybody good. Redistributing funds from police departments could transform our communities, and we can flip over their armored cars and LRAD sound cannons and make new statues from them to replace the ones of white supremacists. Removing this institution that learned everything it knows about private property from fugitive slave patrols will go a long way towards creating a context for justice for black lives. Not sure we need to replace it.
