Prison Abolition from Chicago to Montreal

February 27, 2025

This week, Free City Radio is airing a round table discussion between community organizers and artists working for prison abolition and justice in the Chicago and Montreal areas.

Hosted by Stefan Christoff, the discussion includes Olivia Dumas who works with formally incarcerated people in the Montreal area doing physiological and social support, Sheena Hoszko who has been involved in Prisoners’ Justice Day and does artwork related to the realities of prisons today in Canada, and Damon Locks and myself (Aaron Hughes) who both do community based art projects with the Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project in Illinois.

This discussion is a window into the organizing work and activism that connects across borders.

The program can be listened on Soundcloud and will air on a network of community and campus radio stations in Canada.
