An Encyclopedia of Political Record Labels

From A-Disc (the record label of the Swedish Labor Movement) to Zhongguo Changpian (the state label of the People’s Republic of China), this is a compendium of 230 record labels which produced political music between 1965 and 1990, the heyday of the vinyl record. Each entry features the logo of the label, and a brief synopsis of its history and any additional interesting information I could find. Truly international in scope, over two dozen countries and territories are represented, as well as a myriad of musical styles and forms.

For other issues of my sporadically-published zine Pound the Pavement, check out #15, #14, #13, #11, #10, and #9. Most of these older issues are down to their final copies, and will be sold out soon.
