This screenprint was named after a verse in one of my favorite songs by the 80’s band, The Police, "Wrapped Around your Finger." 2008 was a year when I committed to name all my art pieces after 80's pop songs. I especially like the line in which Sting sings:
Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your flesh to alabaster
Then you’ll find your servant is your master
The 80’s was a formative time in my childhood because it’s the decade during which I learned to speak English and assimilate to American culture. My older cousins worked at a record shop and I would explore their record collection for hours, staring at the record covers and making my mixed tapes.
