“FORA GARIMPO”
This print is to raise awareness about the humanitarian catastrophe that the Yanomami
indigenous people are suffering, largely due to the disastrous effect of illegal gold
mining that has displaced them, brought diseases, child malnutrition, destroyed the land and contaminated the rivers with mercury and poisoned the Yanomami people. Mercury is used for gold mining to extract gold, over 90% of the Yanomami people have higherlevels of mercury than the World Health Organization recommends.

Esta estampa es para concientizar sobre la catástrofe humanitaria que está sufriendo el
pueblo indígena Yanomami, en gran parte por el efecto desastroso de la minería ilegal
de oro, que los ha desplazado, traído enfermedades, desnutrición infantil, destruido la
tierra y contaminado los ríos con mercurio, envenenando al pueblo Yanomami. - El
mercurio se usa en la minería para extraer oro -, más del 90% de los Yanomami tienen
niveles de mercurio más alto de lo que recomienda la Organización Mundial de la
Salud.
