I made this risograph print to celebrate gathering gifts of the forest. It's an exuberant collage of ink drawings that I made of morels that I found in Spring 2020, a pleasure that carried me through much of the early Covid times. Sumac and oyster mushrooms are also in the mix, drawn from observation at ACRE residency in summer 2019, and mugwort from here in Kingston, NY. I really do associate particular mushrooms and edible plants with particular places and experiences, as I would any friends. The close study and care involved in drawing from life brings me closer to understanding and appreciating them.
