West Virginia Mine Wars Museum: We’re in the second season of Mine Wars Forum, an online interview series we started last summer as a response to, you know, everything being online for the unforeseeable future. It’s been a popular public project for the museum, so we’re keeping it up! There’s some pretty solid interviews up there if you’re into Appalachian movement and history, including a recent episode with William Isom (Black in Appalachia), Cecil E. Roberts (President, United Mine Workers of America), and Steve Earle (he plays guitar).
Our latest episode features me! It was really fun to be in a discussion with historian/founding board member Chuck Keeney, with whom I’ve collaborated on loads of content in the museum since before we opened our doors in 2015. We talk about some of the challenges of storytelling in our museum, highlight some of the exciting parts of our new museum building and exhibition, and (at 45:16) we talk a bit about my new book, So Much To Be Angry About.
Check out the new episode here, and the whole Mine Wars Forum series is available on YouTube!
