Solidarity with Afghan Resistance

This image is from Celebrate People’s History/Iraq Veterans Against the War: Ten Years of Fighting for Peace and Justice, a portfolio that celebrated IVAW’s first ten years and was produced by Justseeds, IVAW, Booklyn, Repetitive Press, and the Civilian Soldier Alliance.

(IVAW is now known as About Face: Veterans Against the War)

Against an off-white background, large text in orange states, “Solidarity with Afghan Resistance”. In the center, a figure of a woman sits and stitches the words, “peace”, also in Dari Persian, into an embroidery hoop. She has floral patterns on her headscarf and robes. Behind her, an orange cloud shape and floral motifs. Below, the text states, “Iraq Veterans Against the War has worked in solidarity with Afghans United for Justice, Afghans for Peace, Afghan Peace Volunteers, and the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan.”
