A group of cats participate in a contra dance in this cooperation cat print. I grew up attending folks dances with my family. I was very shy, but these dances brought me out of my shell to dance with people I didn't know. Some dances were at the Audubon Society, others were at various church spaces, my favorite were the ones outside at the Art Museum in Philadelphia. My parents and I have taken my kid to a few dances, and it continues to be a lovely experience to gather with others to swing and dance with people with a live string band. In this print, there are cats standing in two lines, with a couple dancing underneath their outstretched arms.
This is a seven color reduction cut linoleum and woodblock print. It is printed with thick layers of oil based ink on a thin mulberry paper with some hand painting. Each image is unique because of slight variations in the alignment of each layer of ink. Expect your print to look slightly different from the image in the photo.
Each print is signed and numbered on the back of the print. It is an edition of 33.
Each image is 31.75" x 23.5" and bleeds to the edge of the paper. I have left a short 1" border at the top of each print, which is just blue woodblock texture. This border can be useful if you have the image framed. If you do not get the print framed, you can cut the edge off the print.
